GAMMA World MA Championship U-18

The U18s segment of the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts’ 2024 World Championships concluded today at the Dewa MMA Arena in Banten, Indonesia with the competition finals and medals ceremonies.
See below for the Medals and Matches Results from across two fields of play, where U18s and U16s competed in the MMA Arena and all U14s on the tatami.

Ukraine placed first in the medals table with 17 golds, 11 silvers and 11 bronzes, with USA in second place with 9 golds, 6 silvers, and 9 bronzes. India beat Kazakhstan to third place whilst the host county proudly took the fifth podium spot, demonstrating the success of Indonesia’s development strategy for MMA on a global platform.
On the Tatami, in the boys U12s -34kg, Oliver Trallero of Spain prevailed with a 1:19 submission victory over Shivam Saha of India in one of the youngers’ matches of the day.
It was also by way of first round submission that Ajna Amith clinched the gold medal for host country Indonesia in the girls U10s.
A second highlight reel bout on the mat saw Ukraine's Kristina Volkova make light work of her opponent with a rapid, 40-second submission. Sparks flew too on the mat between Ukrainian Kristina Volkova and South African Amber Van Wyk in the girls U14s, with the former scoring the gold medal.
Touted European silver medallist Mateo Davis again placed second in his U12s division, this time alongside and sister Liliana in the U14s, losing respectively to Ukrainians Mark Oleinyk and Yelyzaveta Pash.
In the MMA Arena, in the U16s, 2024 European gold medallist Matyas Gruber of Czech Republic went the distance against Poland’s Krystian Wojniak at -62kg to win on the judges’ score cards.
The anticipated match between 2023 World Champion Maxwell Stary (USA) and Amir Serik (Kazakhstan), saw the former dominate via submission in third round. Another best performance contender played out between 2024's Polish European gold medallist, Oliwier Przerwa and 2024 Pan Am Gold medallist James Weaver in the U18s 70.3kg division, with the Pole winning by majority decision.
GAMMA Athlete to Watch, U18’s 2024 European gold medallist Daniil Chernetsky of Ukraine also succeeded by decision against Azerbaijani Shamil Sharifzada, but unanimously at 79.4kg.
Among the female juniors, top performer Manayra Siagian championed for host nation Indonesia taking Ukrainian Anastasia Kucherenko by unanimous decision in the girls’ 52.2kg division.
U18s 2024 GAMMA European silver, 2023 GAMMA world bronze and 2022 GAMMA USA world silver medallist Gabriela Majerčáková of Slovakia lost to 2024 GAMMA European gold medallist Jana Lamacova in their second meeting.
Anastasia Romanik Yana (Ukraine) and Kaiylyn Van Wyk (South Africa) brought another highlight match in the girls U18s with the South African scoring gold via first round submission.
Another female athlete to champion with an impressive submission in the first, was international newcomer Team USA’s Taylor Ellis in the U18sn at 61.2kg. Ellis also stands as GAMMA USA World Champion, is a twice IMMAF and twice IBJJF Blue Belt world champion.
Tonight, an Official Championships Ceremony marks the end of the youth tournaments and the beginning of tomorrow’s Senior Words Championships. The ceremony will be available to watch post-event on demand.
